Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 with KPMG, Colin spent 10 years as Financial Director and 10 years as CEO of Staniforth Public Relations and Marketing. During his time the business grew from six to 60 people, and became one of the largest and most profitable consultancies based outside London.
The company's reputation and financial success attracted the attention of a number of acquisitive networks and in late 2002 the business was sold to Omnicom to become the TBWA's only PR offering in the UK.
In the three years that followed Staniforth produced record financial results. Since then the business has gradually become immersed into the Group culminating with the company moving both their London and Manchester offices in with other TBWA Group companies.
Colin left Omnicom in April 2006 and has provided financial and business consultancy to a number of clients since then. After working closely with The JRW Group Limited since early 2007 Colin became a director and shareholder in April 2008.
As a qualified Chartered Accountant, Colin has been largely responsible for the corporate strategy and financial performance of the company since 2008 and works closely with the Financial Controller, Matt Houltby, and the other members of the Management Team to ensure that the company's ambitions are communicated, understood and achieved.
Having gained experience in working within an advertising agency, John launched JRW Design & Advertising in 1989. Having successfully promoted a broad range of products on behalf of clients John was keen to utilise his natural sense of commerciality to create his own brand to take to market.
After spotting a niche in the market for a golf membership package which included specialist golf insurance and following substantial research The Golfers Club UK Ltd was incorporated in 1997.
In 2004 JRW Group Services Ltd was incorporated with the launch of a new golf insurance brand into the UK golf market; 'Golf Care', which in a relatively short period has become the largest and most recognisable golf insurance brand in the UK.
As Golf Care expanded John explored the opportunity to provide 'white label' golf insurance to the major golf retailers in the UK and as such secured long-term exclusive contracts with the largest retailers to market golf insurance to their customer base.
John's drive was instrumental in the development and growth of the business and The JRW Group quickly established itself as the UK's largest specialist golf insurance company.
With the insurance side of the business doing so well it was decided to invest in a specialist insurance database and platform which was delivered in 2008. This new platform has enabled the company to expand into offering other sports and leisure insurance.
In addition to the day-to-day management of the business John also concentrates his efforts on working with the JRW IT Team and Marketing & Studio Team to ensure the Marketing plan is delivered across all insurance brands.
John is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a number of key strategic partners that are related to delivering continued growth across the JRW brands.
